JBC is partnering with Mukhanyo Theological College to provide a Diploma in Theology accredited by MTC. This is part of the Mukhanyo Distance Learning programme.
The Diploma provides a systematic introduction to major areas of theological study, including both academic study and practical application of Biblical truth. It is designed as a foundational programme for church leaders. This is a two year part-time programme.
MTC has recognized the JBC course as prior learning for the Diploma and so students who have successfully graduated from JBC receive credits covering 25% of the first year of the Diploma.
The MTC Diploma is facilitated by Glenn Nesbitt, Elias Masango, Dorothy Seekoei and Andries Tshele, JBC lecturers, who guide students through viewing DVDs and class discussion.
It is not possible to study for the Diploma at JBC without having graduated from JBC. Once students have successfully completed the Diploma they can apply to enter the Bachelors in Pastoral Theology Degree offered by MTC Johannesburg Campus in Braamfontein.
The Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET) has announced that colleges can continue to enroll Diploma students until31 December 2019. MTC is currently working on two Higher Certificates, one on Biblical Teaching, the other on Church Ministry, which will eventually replace the Diploma in Theology. MTC will let prospective students know of any changes as soon as possible.
