A candidate must first obtain a B.Com degree by completing the Accounting curriculum and then obtain the Diploma after one more year of full-time study.
This diploma is accredited by the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants as fulfilling part of the entry requirements for part 1 of the qualifying examination. Admission to the Diploma is subject to the candidate obtaining 55% for Accounting 3 and an average of 55% for the other three major subjects. Candidates with a Bachelor‟s degree other than a B.Com (Accounting) may be admitted after obtaining credits in certain essential pre-requisite courses during a preparatory period of one year.
