How to pass Building Drawing N2

Building Drawing N2 is marked as a drawing paper, so the way you revise for it matters as much as the hours you put in.

1. Set up first, line in later. Lay out the views lightly, check the spacing and the scale, and only darken lines once the whole sheet is right.
2. Convention carries marks on its own: first-angle projection symbols, line types, dimensioning and title block are marked whether or not the drawing is correct.
3. Work to the clock per view. Candidates lose more marks by not finishing the last view than by drawing the first one imperfectly.
4. Mark your own attempt against the memorandum with a ruler. Small errors in scale and centre lines are easy to miss by eye.
5. Work through the papers on this page under exam conditions, then mark yourself honestly against the memorandum. Doing three papers properly beats skimming ten.
