There are many ways in which the Bill of Rights can assist in preventing human rights violations. According to LO Grade 12 textbooks, human rights is referred to as “hurting, disrespecting or acting against someone’s rights.”
Four Ways in which the Bill of Rights Assists in Preventing Human Rights Violations
The four ways in which the Bill of Rights assists in preventing human rights violations mentioned above, are:
- The Bill of Rights sets clear standards of what is allowed and what is not. In this regard, the Bill of Rights guides even the South African legal system in terms of determining what is legal and what is not.
- The Bill of Rights is above the South African government. It ensures that the government is held accountable for any wrong doing.
- The Bill of Rights empower citizens from the individual level, to ensure that every individual is protected.
- The Bill of Rights promotes quality and fairness in the country.
