Paper 1: Puo le Tsebo ya Mantswe (Language in Context)

2 Hours 80 Marks

Tests your ability to interpret information and apply grammatical rules accurately within a given context.

Section A: Comprehension (30 Marks) Reading a passage and answering questions.
Section B: Summary (10 Marks) Writing a summary of approximately 90 words.
Section C: Language in Context (40 Marks) Testing vocabulary, grammar, and sentence construction in real contexts.
Instruction Tip: Start each section on a new page and rule off after each one. Number your answers according to the system in the paper, leave a line after each answer, and pay close attention to spelling and sentence construction. Suggested timing is 50 minutes for Section A, 20 minutes for Section B, and 50 minutes for Section C.

Paper 2: Dingolwa (Literature)

2½ Hours 80 Marks

Learners must answer one question from each section. The focus is on interpretation, analysis, and critical appreciation of Sesotho literature.

Section A: Poetry (30 Marks) Contextual and essay questions on prescribed poems.
Section B: Novel (25 Marks) A choice between an essay or contextual questions.
Section C: Drama (25 Marks) A choice between an essay or contextual questions.

Paper 3: Mongolo (Writing)

2½ Hours 100 Marks

Marks are awarded for content, structure, language, and style.

Section A: Essay (50 Marks) Creative, reflective, or discursive essays.
Section B: Longer Transactional Writing (30 Marks) Formal letters, speeches, articles, or reports.
Section C: Shorter Transactional Writing (20 Marks) Texts such as emails, notices, dialogues, or diary entries.
