Programme Duration: 40 Weeks (Four terms, each roughly ten weeks long)

Sample Theme: Animals
Week 1-2: Animals
Poster: Various animals and their habitats
Big Book Story: “The Adventures of Tom the Turtle”
Rainbow Learners’ Workbook: Term one, pages 12-18
Worksheets: Animal names, animal sounds, animal habitats
Flashcards: Various animals
Weekly Plans:
- Day 1: Introduction using the poster, explore different animals and where they live.
- Day 2: Read the Big Book story, focus on comprehension questions.
- Day 3: Worksheet activity on naming animals.
- Day 4: Use flashcards for memory and recognition games.
- Day 5: Workbook activities and review of the week.
Assessment Tasks:
- Can the learner identify at least five animals from the poster?
- Can the learner answer questions about the Big Book story?
Recording Sheet: Checklist noting if the learner can identify animals, comprehend the story, and complete the worksheets.
Assessment & Record-Keeping
At the end of each two-week theme, utilise the assessment tasks to evaluate the learners’ grasp of the material. Record the results in a checklist or rubric, and maintain this information for tracking progress over the term and year.
