On this page, we assist learners in answering a Grade 12 Life Orientation source-based task term 1 question, which is:
“Discuss how high levels of stress could impact your physical well-being as a young person.”
When you answer this questions, you should think of the word “Distress”. This is the negative, harmful and bad stress. That’s what they are referring to as “high levels of stress“.
A high level of stress could impact your physical well-being as a young person in Grade 12 in the following ways:
- When you are stressed for prolonged periods, you release more adrenalin than required, which eventually damages your body.
- High levels of stress reduce your performance level. For example, if you are too stressed about an exam, you might not think clearly during the exam, and end up failing.
- High levels of stress (negative stress) can cause illnesses in your body
- High levels of stress can also make you choose the wrong lifestyle choices, such as drinking too much alcohol, which eventually damages the body.
A high level of stress means that you need to apply the stress management techniques or methods (covered in LO Grade 12 term 1 – Stress Management topic).
