Defining the Term Quality of Life in Life Orientation:
Quality of life in Grade 12 Life Orientation context refers to the level of personal well-being and satisfaction with your life.
For example, having access to clean water, electricity, proper housing, and nutritious food is a quality of life. Think of your own examples, when you complete the source-based task
TWO factors in your community that could lower your quality of life:
When you answer this question, think about “Stressors” under the “Development of the self in society” topic in your Life Orientation book.
Some of the factors in your community that could lower your quality of life can be in the form of various types of stressors, such as:
- Physical Stressors – illness, or abuse
- Emotional Stressors – your feelings and thoughts
- Social stressors – peer pressure, bullying, crime, divorce or death
- Environmental stressors -air pollution caused by car traffic, and natural disaster, such as fires, rain storms, etc
Examples:
Two factors in Soweto that could lower your quality of life (Examples):
- Crime and Safety – Soweto has high crime rates, like theft and violence. This can make learners in general, feel unsafe, and learners may struggle to focus at school because of fear.
- Lack of Basic Services – Power cuts and water shortages are common in most parts of Soweto. For example, learners can’t study at night without electricity, and uncollected rubbish can cause health problems (stressors).
In order to pass this task, you need to come up with your own examples. NB: Do not use AI to answer these questions. These should be answers based on your opinions and experiences.
