This is a Grade 10 English First Additional Language School Based Assessment (SBA Task 2) on the Longer Transactional Text, worth 30 marks and to be completed in one hour. Learners choose one of four writing topics, an informal letter, a formal letter of complaint, a speech, or a dialogue, and must show their planning and drafting process. Each response should be 120 to 150 words and is marked out of 30 using a rubric split between content, planning and format, and language, style and editing.

Page three completes the topic choices and explains how the mark out of 30 is split between content, planning and format (60%) and language, style and editing (40%).
By completing this task, learners should be able to plan, draft and edit a piece of writing in the correct format and register for a chosen text type, write within the given word count, and apply appropriate language and style for the intended audience.
