Foundation Phase Programme of Assessment Overview:
In the Foundation Phase, the program of assessment (POA) consists of one Formal Assessment Task per subject per term, totaling four formal assessment tasks per grade. It is essential to note that assessment in the Foundation Phase is a continuous process, with School Based Assessment accounting for 100% of the evaluation. This continuous assessment approach allows for more accurate and in-depth monitoring of student progress, ensuring that learners receive adequate support and opportunities for improvement throughout the academic year.
Program of Assessment for Foundation Phase per Term for all Subjects:
The Program of Assessment for the Foundation Phase spans across four terms, covering Grade 1, Grade 2, and Grade 3 for the following subjects: Mathematics, Home Language, First Additional Language, and Life Skills. The assessment tasks for each subject are designed to provide a comprehensive understanding of students’ learning and development in the Foundation Phase.
