The Basic Pass Requirements for National Senior Certificate

The NSC has three pass levels: a basic pass, a higher certificate pass, and a diploma pass. To obtain a basic pass, students must meet the following requirements:

  1. Achieve at least 40% in three subjects, one of which must be a Home Language.
  2. Achieve at least 30% in three other subjects.
  3. Achieve at least 20% in the remaining subject.
