On this page we explain three possible obstacles or barriers that can hinder one from achieving life goals. There are many obstacles and challenges in life that may hinder you from achieving your carefully planned life goals. However, being aware of those obstacles make a person more aware and avoids them.
As a Life Orientation Grade 11 Learner, your goals need to be very diverse and not one-dimensional. For example, you should avoid focusing on only one aspect of your life, such as your education. As a person, you should have goals that relate to other parts of your life, such as your career, family and relationships, as well as your physical and emotional well-being. Having multiple goals in life will make you a more well-balanced person.
What is a life goal?
Life goals are one of the major goals or dreams that you would like to achieve in life. According to AMFAM, Life goals are all the things you want to accomplish in your life. Often your life goals are very meaningful to you and can make a lasting impact on your life.
List of Three Obstacles that can hinder one from achieving life goals
#ONE: Fear of Failure: Sometimes, our very own goals might scare us, they might be challenged by society, or they might lose their value in society over time.
#TWO: Life Change: Big life changes can significantly challenge your big life plans. For example, diseases, death, divorce, etc. One needs to stay focused no matter what happens.
#THREE: Rigidity of the Goal itself: Your goals need to be flexible and not rigid. Focus on the end than the means, meaning, there are many solutions to get you to your goal.
