The Grade R Money Worksheets cover recognising and naming South African money, which is where Grade R money work begins and ends. The pack is not about calculating. A child who finishes it can name the coins and notes on sight, say which of two coins is worth more, count a small group of the same coin, and pay for something in a class shop. The coins and notes are simplified line drawings made for printing, not reproductions of the real currency.

Twelve A4 pages. Page one is for the adult. Pages two and three introduce the coins and the notes. Page four is tracing, page five matching, page six counting, page seven comparing, page eight sorting coins from notes, page nine counting rand, page ten the class shop, page eleven a sheet of coins to cut out, and page twelve a self check and certificate. Bring real coins into the classroom if you can and let the children handle them before they touch the worksheets.
