Air Gets Dirty When……….? Grade 2 Air Pollution Lesson

On this page we look at helping Grade 2 learners to understand how the air gets dirty.

Hello! So, you’re wondering how the air gets dirty. Well, let me explain it to you.

The air around us can get dirty when things like smoke, dust, and chemicals are released into the air. These things are called pollutants, and they can be harmful to our health and the environment.

Air Gets Dirty When……….?

Here are some examples of how air gets dirty:

  1. Cars and Trucks – Cars and trucks produce a lot of exhaust fumes that contain harmful chemicals. When we drive, these fumes go into the air and can make it dirty.
  2. Factories – Factories produce a lot of smoke and chemicals, which can be released into the air. This can make the air around the factories very dirty.
  3. Forest Fires – When there is a forest fire, smoke and ash are released into the air. This can make the air around the fire very dirty and can be harmful to our health.
  4. Construction – When there is construction happening, it can produce a lot of dust and debris. This can make the air around the construction site very dirty.

All of these things can make the air around us dirty. That’s why it’s important to take care of the environment and reduce the amount of pollutants we release into the air. We can help by using public transport or walking instead of driving, using energy-efficient appliances, and recycling.

I hope this helps you understand how the air gets dirty!
