A short-term goal is a goal which is achieved within a short period of time – within weeks or months.

Short-term goal leads to achieving other goal types, such as medium-term and long-term goals

Based on the case study above,

• Thabo’s short-term goal is to improve his Mathematics grade from Level 5 to 7 by the end of the year.
• This is a short-term goal because it has a specific deadline which is within a year. This short-term goal also supports his long-term goal of becoming a software developer.
• In order to achieve this short-term goal, Thabo has planned daily study sessions, weekly tutoring, and group study participation, which are all short-term actions towards his aim of improving his mathematics grades.
