The University of Johannesburg application process is one of the easiest ones in South Africa. The entire application process can be done 100% online within the application period dates. The university also accommodates the manual form submission process.

Does UJ charges an application fee?

Does UJ charges for an application fee? The answer is yes and no. The university of Johannesburg does not charge for applications which are done online. However, students who apply with a paper-based application form, will have to pay an application fee of R200 into UJ’s bank account (first-time applicants only).

What are the application requirements at UJ for 2023?

In order to apply at the University of Johannesbur, you need to meet all the necessary requirement. Have a look at the general requirements below:

  • Valid email address.
  • Meet the specific requirements for the course that you are applying for.
  • Certified and individually scanned documents if completed Grade 12.
  • Certified document required when applying online (not applicable to applicants currently in grade 12 or internal transfer/Senior applicants).
    • Eensure that the scanned file is a maximum of 512KB
    • All documents are scanned in any of the following types – tiff, pdf, jpg or gif
    • Each document must be scanned and uploaded as separate attachments
    • Alternatively, documents can be emailed to ujappdocs@listsrv.uj.ac.za with the provisional reference/student number noted in the subject line of the email.

Requirements for international students:

  • Final School Results
  • Valid Passport or Identity Documents or Birth Certificate
  • Sworn English Translation of documents (Documents issued in any Language other than English
  • Provide proof of the English Proficiency where English was not used as a medium of learning and teaching
Relevant APS Score for UJ:

In order to determine the Admission Point Score (APS) the following principles need to be taken into consideration:

  • Applicants with the following results, WAEC, Diplome or Exam D’Etat, Certificado de Habilitscoes Literarias, Ensino Medio and Baccalaureat should be linked with the Ordinary Level (O) Grades on UJ’s Student database.
  • Applicants with the following results, HIGCSE, NSSC (HL), AS Level, IB (SL) and KCSE should be linked to the South African NSC (N) Grades on UJ’s Student database.
  • Applicants who have set for either A Level or IB (HL) should be linked to the (A) Grades on UJ’s Student database.
