On this page you will find information regarding National Benchmark Test requirements for the University of Johannesburg. The NBTs were designed to measure a writer’s ability to transfer understanding of Academic Literacy, Quantitative Literacy and Mathematics to the demands of tertiary coursework
Are NBTs still required at UJ?
The National Benchmark Tests (NBTs) are nolonger part of UJs admissions requirements and applicants are not required to write the NBTs in order to apply or gain admission to UJ. Applicants may however, be requested to write the NBTs in exceptional circumstances where the applicant is in possession of an extraordinary school leaving certificate.
